We only seem to think of our decks in warmer, BBQ’ing weather, but winterizing your deck is also very important.  Decks should be sealed against the harsh winter weather to help ensure a continuously beautiful deck the following Spring.  Painting or staining with a sealant is typically recommended for most wood decks.  Other types of decks, such as Trex, may not need as much maintenance but do follow manufacturer’s instructions regarding its upkeep.

The Soffit and Fascia

The soffit is the underside of the eaves near the roof line and the fascia boards are those facing outwards.  These areas need to be checked periodically for signs of moisture build-up and wood rot.  Moisture will begin seeping into the attic and other areas if left open to the elements.
